No injuries were reported after an armored truck carrying money slid off of a road and rolled over in North Codorus Township on Tuesday morning, officials said.
Firefighters were called to the scene of a rollover crash on Green Valley Road near the intersection of Buffalo Valley Road in North Codorus Township around 7:31 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2025, according to York County 911 records.
Officials with the North Codorus Township Fire Department on the scene said that no injuries were reported to either of the two occupants of the armored truck, who were able to self-extricate, and that the crash solely involved the armored truck.
The truck was loaded with money, officials said. None of the money had been lost from the vehicle, which appeared to have remained mostly intact other than damage to a windshield.
Two heavy duty tow trucks, known as rotators, were called to the scene to remove the armored vehicle from its resting place off of the roadway.
Prior to the truck being removed, firefighters used chainsaws to cut away trees from the truck, which had rolled onto several trees along the road.
Using the rotator trucks, crews from Mike's Towing completed a somewhat complicated removal of the armored vehicle, which entailed rotating and lifting with the crane on one of the trucks as another one of the trucks pulled from tow hooks on the armored vehicle's front bumper.
Fire police had shut down Green Valley Road between Cold Springs Road and Buffalo Valley Road while the truck was removed from the roadway, but the road has since reopened.
North Codorus Township Fire Department was assisted by Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company, Porters Volunteer Fire Company, and WellSpan EMS.
Northern York County Regional Police are investigating the crash.
