Arrest made in deadly Schuylkill County crash

The wreck in West Mahanoy Township left an 18-year-old girl dead

SHENANDOAH, Pa. — An 18-year-old Schuylkill County man was behind the wheel and under the influence of alcohol when his car veered off the road nearly two years ago and crashed, leaving one passenger dead and himself and two others badly hurt, state police at Jonestown said.

Zakary Tyler Kluchinsky, of Girardsville, was arraigned Wednesday on charges including homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle and driving under the influence, court records in Schuylkill County show.

The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. July 31, 2023, along the Gold Star Highway in West Mahanoy Township, state police said.

Jenna Marie Sallade, 18,  a passenger in the Honda Civic that Kluchinsky drove, died of her injuries at the scene. Kluchinsky and two other passengers identified as Jeffery Ryan Livergood, 23, and Logan Payne, 19, suffered serious injuries.

State police said that Kluchinsky lost control of the car and veered onto the shoulder of the road. The car struck an embankment, hit two trees and rolled over several times. The impact threw the Honda's occupants from the vehicle.

Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker set bail at $100,000 and scheduled Kluchinsky to next appear for a preliminary hearing Feb. 6.
