The victims were identified as Ibrahim Cardenas, 26, and Fatima Claire Pis-oy, 25, both residents of Barangay Cabaroan in San Emilio.
The couple was traveling the national road in Barangay Paltoc when Cardenas, who was driving, lost control of the truck while ascending a steep portion of the road.
Reports said the truck’s brakes failed, causing the vehicle to swerve uncontrollably before plunging into a mountainside and overturning.
Both sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital, but they were declared dead on arrival.
