Upon arrival, officers found the 41-year-old male driver of the motorcycle and his juvenile female passenger lying in the roadway. Despite efforts by officers and paramedics to administer medical aid, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The female passenger was transported to Children’s Hospital and is expected to survive. The identities of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the Suburban was traveling eastbound on East Main Street and entered a turn lane to head north onto Shady Lane. The driver of the Suburban, a 37-year-old woman, turned directly in front of the motorcycle, which was traveling westbound on East Main Street. The motorcycle struck the front passenger door of the Suburban.
The driver of the Suburban, who remained at the scene along with her passenger, was found to be under the influence of a stimulant at the time of the collision. She was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Las Colinas Detention Facility.
