On Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 8:53 p.m., officers from the Sulphur Springs Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of Industrial Drive West to investigate a serious accident.
Initial findings indicate that a truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling westbound on Industrial Drive West, followed closely by a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver of the Tahoe lost control of their speed and collided with the rear of the semi-trailer. Unfortunately, the driver of the Tahoe was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Brad Cummings.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Alfonso Alvarez Jr. from Sulphur Springs, TX.
The two individuals in the semi-truck were unharmed.
