Motorcyclist loses his life
All lanes have been shut this morning on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway following a collision around 6.45am which has sadly resulted in a male dead at the scene.
Police closed the Expressway in both directions around 7.30am and have now confirmed the male motorbike driver died as a result of a serious accident.
It follows reports of a car travelling in the wrong direction, of further concern given a similar report of this happening a few months ago.
Police Update
Police have confirmed to us in the last hour the male driver of the car travelling in the wrong direction had been taken to Hairmyres Hospital for checks and has now been arrested.
Traffic Scotland have warned drivers that the road will continue to be closed for a few hours whilst the investigation continues.
Our thoughts go out to the families and friends of the motorcyclist at this sad time.
