RED BLUFF, Calif. — A school bus was caught in floodwaters on Tuesday afternoon just north of Dairyville, creating a dramatic scene captured by a witness.
Megan Marie said she was picking up her child from Antelope School around 4:43 p.m. when they encountered flooding on Highway 99 East.
As they were sitting there at Blackberry Avenue and Craig Creek, Marie said that cars were slowly proceeding through the rushing water.
She described how a lifted truck attempted to cross but claimed it nearly failed. Following the truck, a bus from the Red Bluff Union High School District tried to navigate the waters and was caught on video driving through the flooded street.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed that the bus did get stuck in about 1 foot of water. They said that al the children were removed from the bus safely and that no injuries were reported.
Flooding has been sweeping the Northstate with heavy winds and rain across the state.
