A dramatic early-morning crash in the Allied Gardens neighborhood left a trail of destruction. The drivers of two vehicles suspected of street racing collided with each other and rolled over striking multiple parked cars and at least three homes. The incident, which occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, also resulted in a sheared fire hydrant, sending water gushing into the street.
San Diego Police reported that two black Honda Civics were traveling at high speeds when their drivers lost control. Witnesses described the aftermath as chaotic, with debris scattered across the road and surrounding properties.
Authorities believe both drivers were teenagers engaged in a street race. However, investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Despite the severity of the incident, both drivers were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and later went home with their parents. No arrests were made.
The impact of the collision was significant, with at least two parked vehicles sustaining damage, and debris from the crash striking several nearby homes. The ruptured fire hydrant created a temporary water geyser, further adding to the scene’s intensity.
While no serious injuries were reported, the incident highlights the dangers of illegal street racing and reckless driving. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash.
